About Te Puna Ora o Mataatua
Te Puna Ora o Mataatua (TPOOM) provides a range of health, medical, social and employment services across the Bay of Plenty, with a whānau ora approach to Hauora.
TPOOM is a non-profit charitable organisation, employing over 110 staff at its main base, with a further 400 home-care support workers.
The Challenge
TPOOM has over 400 home-care workers in sometimes remote regions who may never actually come into the TPOOM hub. Some of these employees may only work a few hours a week, but they all still need to understand the organisation’s philosophies and principles, follow the client care charter, and apply the health, safety and wellbeing policies, practices and processes on the job.
Much of this induction and training was initially done one-to-one, or in small groups, with a PowerPoint presentation. This was supported by a 118-page manual which new staff were expected to read. It was time- and resource-intensive for everyone, and some caregivers might have started working before coming in to get properly inducted, and so had trouble getting paid on time.
The team made setting up and implementing The Induction App a breeze! ...The ongoing support is amazing.

The Results
With our help, TPOOM has transformed their induction for both their remote fieldworkers and their clinical and support office employees.
New employees complete one integrated online HR form before they start, guaranteeing that everything is set up for them ahead of time. Their Induction App then guides them through what they need to know and do (according to their role) before they start and throughout their first few days and weeks, gaining their feedback along the way.
The onboarding process has been streamlined, and new employees have what they need when they need it, freeing up managers to have better conversations
The ongoing support your company provides is one of the best I have found with regards to software.
